Such a change would require a new version of the guide.

The current version was updated August 14, 2013.

It is legal to make Aasimar and Tieflings.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/5

For reference, the original question was asking for confirmation if tieflings and aasimar had been withdrawn as playable races (without a race boon).

The Exchange 3/5

Don't forget its also legal to make Tengu's without a boon!

I cannot see them ever withdrawing permissions on general race unlocks. It would cause just too many logistical headaches.

Perhaps if they ever rebooted the campaign, but not for anything less.

I dunno. I think it might be a good idea to cycle out what races people can play. There has been enough clamor from the player base about trying different things, I think that Tiefling and Aasimar can go without too much fuss or muss.

how long will it take to "cycle out" a PC race? can I create 4 or 6 extra PCs now and have them grandfathered in?

I have a Boon Tiefling still active, will I be able to run him if all the non-boon Tieflings get "cycled out"?

This is apt to get complex in a hurry.... Say it was started this year... I am still running PCs that were created in season 1 (my #1 is only 10th level)... how long do you expect it to take to even be noticeable? Meantime, new races will be cycleing in right? How is this going to look different from what we have now? I mean other than the fact that Newbies will not be able to run race types that the older players will take for granted...

Hay! I say we cycle out Elves! They know another Starstone is fixing to hit... so they bug out again!

You take my tiefling away from me and this city burns. :P

I don't think "taking away" a race can be done.

However - they could simply say "none of X race are legal for play unless their first chronicle sheet is dated on or before Y date" - and sort of discontinue allowing new ones for awhile.

Yeah, I can see it now...

New Player: "Hay! that's cool! how do you get to play a Tiefling?"
Old Player: "Well, if you had just started playing sooner, you to could have one... but now? Sorry dude. You don't get the cool toys..."

That's not *too* much different than:

New player: "Hay! that's cool! how do you get to play a Tiefling?"
Old Player: "Well, if you had just played at Gen Con, there were boons you could have won to play one... but now? Sorry dude. You don't get the cool toys...(unless you can find one of those boons out there)"

I should have added - stop people from making them without boons, if they felt that a formerly boon-only race had gotten *way* too populous, etc.

"So why did you scheduel first steps 15 times this weekend?

"I Need 1 of every aasimar and 1 of every tiefling to complete the set!
