Does an Evangelist with the ability to use trained only skills untrained (such as Bardic Knowledge or Improvisation feat) gain the bonus from Multitude of Talents on those skills?

Multitude of Talents (Ex)
The evangelist finds herself in many strange situations requiring a variety of skills. Starting at 5th level, the evangelist gains a +4 sacred or profane bonus on any skill check attempted with a skill in which the character has no ranks. This bonus applies only to skill checks that can be made untrained.

Sczarni

yes, provided you aren't doing some skills that can't be used untrained... and that you have... get this no ranks in it.

An example is Bard/Evangelist with 0 ranks in Knowledge (Geography). Bard can use this skill untrained, so does he get the +4 for Multitude of Talents?

Another example; Human Fighter/Evangelist with the Improvisation feat wants to use UMD to use a wand and has 0 ranks in UMD.

You get the bonus from Multitude of Talents and Improvisation on skills in which you have 0 ranks. Whether you can use the skill untrained, due to for example bardic knowledge, doesn't change the fact that you have 0 ranks in the skill. So I don't see why you wouldn't get the bonus.

Sczarni

just ask yourself, is this skill on the "skill checks that can be made untrained" list or not?

If the answer is yes, you get the bonus with zero ranks.

If the answer is no, due to the wording of multitude of talents you do not get your sacred/profane bonus.

In either case you get your bardly skills to it.

Corodix, nothing in the ability states "if you can other wise use the skills untrained etc... so you can't apply the multitude of talents ability.

I was about to say "no" due to the last line of multitude of talents

Quote:

But bardic knowledge specifically says you can do knowledge checks untrained. So it appears to work. Provided, of course, that there are no ranks in that skill.

Sczarni

The answer is still no.

Of course after bardic knowledge the number of skills you can't use untrained is reduced.... UMD etc...

Now I am confused about your answer, you seem to be saying both yes and no at the same time.

Specifically if you have an ability to make all your skills checks untrained then it works. Because all the skills are untrained. If you have only bardic knowledge then this would apply to all the normal untrained skills and knowledges for which you have no ranks only. But I think we are saying the same thing here.
