Unarmed Fighter, Proficiencies

Rules Questions

Hello all,

I've got a question regarding this archetype. I see that it loses all armor proficiencies other than light, and gains monk weapon proficiencies. Are they referring to the monk classes proficiencies, or the monk weapon group? Also, I don't see any reference to removing or replacing the simple or martial proficiencies in the archetype, so do they keep those as well? It's not a make or break kind of thing, it's just I want to see what my options are for ranged weapons and what not.

You retain all existing weapon proficiencies and also gain proficiency with any weapon that has the special quality "monk", such as the nunchaku.

Scarab Sages

Unarmed fighters getting this while monks do no is an irritant, but they do get proficiency in any weapon with the Monk quality.

Ok, interesting. That makes up for starting with a 1d3 unarmed strike until I take some monk levels. Mixing up some fun weapons with unarmed attacks is going to be a fun character.

Agreed. Throwing a bone to monks in this regard is a really common house rule.
