Geryon and the Chelish invasion

Is Geryon uninterested in the success or failure of the Chelish invasion of the Shackles? Is he only interested in his payment of the soul of Ezaliah or Druvilia Thrune? Is he interested in the PCs slayings of the Magaavs and Drowning Devils? "Continuing the Campaign" makes no mention of Geryon or the devils who were slain by the PCs. Does the "illegal" infernal pact cause issues between Geryon and Asmodeus or between other members of the House Thrune?

Sounds like some great plot points for a creative GM to address in some epilogue adventures...

Geryon's whole schtick is deception, so I think it's completely in character for him to leave his patsies dangling. (Unless that doesn't work for your story, of course.)

You could be right, tbug. Geryon could have given all the support he was willing to give for this military adventure for the soul of either Ezaliah or Druvilia Thrune as payment. However, materials have been extremely vague about the infernal pacts made by other members of House Thrune and the noble houses of Cheliax with infernal agents. Who are these infernal agents? Agents of Asmodeus? Does Asmodeus have an exclusive arrangement in Cheliax?

Describing the pact as "illegal" in From Hell's Heart intrigued me. It made me imagine that perhaps The Asmodean Disciplines makes pacts between citizens of Cheliax with the infernal dukes illegal. Perhaps this pact benefited Geryon at the cost of Asmodeus. Geryon can gloat that he has a soul from the House of Thrune.

My thought is that the restrictions are coming more from the Thrune side than the Hell side. House Thrune wants to remain in control of things, and they want to be using Devils as tools. They like feeling superior, and (excluding the Church of Asmodeus itself and some outliers) hew more towards philosophical Diabolism where they see Hell as a model to emulate and asset to utilize than an actual set of masters to serve under. Nobles making direct deals with Archdevils would be inviting in extremely-powerful devils who weren't in on the original contract and putting them in a position superior to the Chelaxian nobility. House Thrune, as a result, while still working for the same general 'side', wouldn't want that happening and would be putting restrictions on that sort of infernal dealing. I think Asmodeus is winning out either way, and it's a matter of whether it's the Archdevils / Infernal Dukes / Pit Fiend Dukes or the Chelaxian human nobility (mainly Thrune) driving state policy.
