Were the black-skinned people of the reed boat culture in Minata intended to be a Polynesian-like or Māori-like people? Does the name Taumata come from the name Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukup okaiwhenuakitanatahu, a hill close to Porangahau, south of Waipukurau in southern Hawke's Bay, New Zealand?

I wish I could answer your question, especially since you've waited a little while, unfortunately I have NO idea. I did want to comment that this was a very long name though. Are there many names that long in that part of the world?

Grand Lodge

Thank you, GreyWolfLord.

Per Wikipedia it is the longest place name found in any English-speaking country, and it is the second-longest place name in the world.

I presume that the people who do know the answers to these questions prefer not to comment at this time.

It does not, as far as I know.

I would say a mixture of the two, since reed-boats are distinctly Polynesian and Taumata is a Maori word meaning "summit" or "hill".
