Were the black-skinned people of the reed boat culture in Minata intended to be a Polynesian-like or Māori-like people? Does the name Taumata come from the name Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukup okaiwhenuakitanatahu, a hill close to Porangahau, south of Waipukurau in southern Hawke's Bay, New Zealand?

I would say a mixture of the two, since reed-boats are distinctly Polynesian and Taumata is a Maori word meaning "summit" or "hill".
