I must be missing it somewhere...I'm new to Pathfinder but have lots of gaming experience.
In the character generation each class is given class skills.
My question is...when gaining levels where is it notated where a character can gain NEW skills and by what method?
I know each level gives you a certain amount of skill ranks to apply to existing skills.

All it means for something to be a class skill is that if you have any ranks in it, you get an extra +3 bonus. You can put ranks in ANY skill, regardless of whether it's on your class list.

Does that answer your question?

When creating your character or picking the Additional Traits feat, you can select several traits that expand your list of class skills.

The only restriction on where you can put a skill point is that you cannot have more ranks (skill points spent) in a skill than your character level. There is nothing special required to add skill points to skills you don't already have. You simply choose a new skill and put a point into it.
