Just my two cents

Advice

So, after having played the Gunslinger now from about level 2 to level 7 in our Skull and Shackles game, I just have to say that this class really sucks. I just got Deadshot and Targetting, and was thinking oh wow, this will be really cool. Granted I cant do it every turn because of grit and all, but it is still better than a full attack action. Then I realize it is a full round action for both of these abilities. So....Deadshot goes through DR better, but I have to give up two standards just to even do the damn shot? Something tells me the damage from just taking two full attack actions would be better. I mean sure, Deadshot will give me some movement and then also allow for nearly the same amount of damage as one full attack action, but who cares. Like, why would anyone play this class? Your better off playing a damn Ranger. At least they have options. Anyway....Rant Over....

Because Gunslinger attacks are based off Touch AC in close quarters... which is typically the lowest AC. That being said, I've never played one.

Deadshot is full round action, so no movement, but it is amazing for punching through DR. Targeting is a separate ability that cannot be used with deadshot that can be used to achieve various status effects. Gunslingers are probably the most powerful class for pure damage in the game, dex to damage, hit touch AC, fighter HP two good saves, 4 skill points per level. I suggest reading the gunslinger guide the class is very powerful and scales well.

I have not played a Gunslinger, however: I do not see anything that says that you need to use two standard actions for Deadshot, it says in the Deadshot Deed that you use a full-round action (anything extra needed stated elsewhere?).

You only need 2 standard actions if you do this through going Start Full Round Action and Finish Full Round Action actions, you can do it all in 1 round if you don't want to move. But mainly, the Gunslinger is only really great when full attacking. The options are granted through [admittedly situational] deeds. Most martial classes are like that, with Stand-Still-or-Suck Sydrome, because PF has designed things so most martial classes try and bring martials to where they have to compete for HP damage instead of other stuff. Think of it this way, you have more options than a fighter.

The last campaign I played in ran from 1st to 10th level. The main damage dealers in the group were my barbarian and a gunslinger. While I ended up with more critical hits, there were very, very few rounds in which the gunslinger could not attack. Big picture, there was no noticable difference in our ability to poke holes in things.

So... I'd say the gunslinger does just fine.
