Does Maximize Spell affect Hydraulic Push?

Rules Questions

You call forth a quick blast of water that knocks over and soaks one creature or square. You can use this blast of water to make a bull rush against any one creature or object. Your CMB for this bull rush is equal to your caster level plus your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma modifier, whichever is highest. This bull rush does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Hydraulic push extinguishes any normal fires on a creature, object, or in a single 5-foot square which it is targeted against. Magical fires are unaffected.

All variable, numeric effects of a spell modified by this feat are maximized. Saving throws and opposed rolls are not affected, nor are spells without random variables.

You roll 1d20+CL+Casting Stat to perform the bullrush. Would Maximize Spell affect the 1d20 and make it auto20? If so, does that mean Empower would bring that up to 30?

It's looking like no as I suspected since its an opposed roll vs. the enemy's CMD, and Maximize doesn't cover opposed rolls.

Liberty's Edge

No. The variable numerical squares are specific to the spell, not other quantities that are generated by encapsulated game mechanics. Likewise, you can't use a maximized true strike to get an 20 on an attack roll, or to ensure that summoned creatures always get a 20 on their attacks.

That makes sense. I was hasty in posting this because I didn't see any similar results but Looking here into this thread on maximized Dispel Magic has lots of further insight.

Maximize has no effect on either of those spells.

Also, Empower does not stack with Maximize directly - each enhances the base spell separately.
