Wasn't there something said that the persons in Alpha will be able to invite others in, since there is not really enough people who forked up $1000!!?
If that is the case, at least one member of UNC is in alpha and I hope he will get at least one or two more of us in.
If I get in my name will be "UnNihimon" ... oh come on, you know that made you laugh!!

Speculation and Epileptic Trees are two wholly different levels of a related anticipated or hoped for outcome. I'm fairly certain I read this bit of speculation from Nihimon, or perhaps it was just a wish of his?
But, I would hardly categorize it as a "wild, off-the-wall theory, named after a leading tinfoil-hat theory."

Alpha testing will be a wide variety of testing experiences. The people who paid for Alpha access will of course be included in all those tests. But some of our tests will be stress tests when we'll want to have a large number of people pound away on the server to see what happens. And as we get closer and closer to Early Enrollment we'll want to keep amping up the number of people playing the game to ensure that what we begin EE with is stable and works.
The difference between late Alpha and Month One of EE will be a total character wipe and server reset.
Not concerning Alpha's inviting, but it looks promising.

If I'm mistaken then I apologize. I thought you had mentioned the idea that this could be one way of handling the expansion of alpha invites.
Ah, I found who first presented the idea:
I genuinely thought this was a good idea, so I also apologize for not attributing it to the correct person.

My wife and I will be in the alpha. We are very flexible in roles and how we play as long as we are together! I tend to be the crafter; she tends to be the healer type. Unfortunately, we missed out on the Kickstarter (had no clue) so no DT for us.
My brother may be in the alpha if he pushes his Kickstarter amount upwards (he's not figured out how to do this yet - he may wait until alpha starts to see if it is worthwhile).

I will be one of the non-kickstarter Alpha players.
I don't foresee Alpha lasting long, over three weeks would be shocking (depending on downtime). I seem to recall a thread / post about Alpha's purpose to be more about ensuring Account operation and bare basics for world play. This is not to say that a downtime spanning several days between Alpha and Early Enrollment will be surprising.
Are all Alpha players going to spawn at Thornkeep? Or are Land Rush locations in the mix as well? I would favor just Thornkeep for ensuring larger groupings at a specific location (could be done by players), so the month 1 EE increase has a better metric for integration programmers.
