GM credit - Paizo shows I have 8 tables of credit...but only did 5

Silver Crusade 4/5

I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right thing or not, but as I've just started GM'ing I'm curious to see how I'm progressing towards my first star. One of my sessions (one at a local store) has not been reported, plus four others have been reported. The site says I have 8 tables of credit. Is that a bug?

What were there scenarios run on the ones reported?

The Confirmation, We Be Goblins!, We Be Goblins Too!, Master of the Fallen Fortress

That brings up another side question. How much credit does a GM get for doing a 3XP type module (like Murder's Mark)?

Grand Lodge 3/5

I know Master of the Fallen Fortress counts as 2 tables worth of GM credit, and I'm guessing the Goblins do as well. Confirmation should only report as one, so I'm not sure how it's coming to 8, I'm only seeing 7 credits based on the four scenarios you gave us.

For mods like Murder's Mark, you get two tables worth of credit.

Calling GM star points "tables" is a misnomer.

Scenarios give you 1 GM star point.
Any kind of module (1 XP free game day or 3 XP ones) gives you 2 points.
APs give you 2 points.

We Be Goblins, WBGT! and MotFF are all 2 point adventures.

Never mind...I found what I was looking for. That's definitely an extra bonus to see that those Free RPG Day modules get 2 credits each! I wonder why they do that, especially when they're not "real" modules just scenarios?

Er, no. They are real modules.

Terminology is important here.

Scenarios are developed for Pathfinder Society. They are 4-5 hr adventures written specifically for PFS. Most are $3.99, some are free. All are PFS and follow Scenario rules.

Modules are Paizo published adventures that are sold in retail stores (unlike PFS Scenarios which are only available as PDFs from Paizo.com). Some Modules are all-day adventures worth 3 XP and 4 PP in PFS. Other Modules have been released for free on Free RPG Day each June and take around 4 hrs to complete (sometimes less). They are worth 1 XP and 1 PP and follow the PFS Modules rules.

Not all Paizo Modules are sanctioned for PFS play, but if you can download a PFS Chronicle sheet for a particular Module, then it is sanctioned.

The reason the Free RPG Day Modules count for 2 GM star points is that Paizo didn't want to make its IT department have to write extra code to separate Free RPG Day Modules from the regular 3 XP Modules. Even with the increasing number of Free RPG Day Modules (another one each year) it is unlikely for Paizo to change them to count as only 1 GM star point because that would mean either recalculating everyone's points or having to include even more code to grandfather in everyone's points up to the change.

Thank you for the clarification!

So close to your first star already! Way to go!

To add onto Don's explanation for the 2 credits for the 'free RPG modules' - this also helps to encourage GMs to participate in the Free RPG Day events themselves, as well as encourage use of these offerings beyond that day as introductory events, 'gateway drugs' if you will, to Pathfinder in general and Society Play in particular. Thus justifying the effort made to produce these free-to-own adventures. :)
