Since I got no answers on the actual product thread for Ultimate Combat, I thought that I'd try my luck here with the same question ...
There is something very weird going on with the Crane Style feat chain.
I have a pre-errata Ultimate Combat, with the pre-errata version of Crane Wing and Crane Riposte.
I then got the errata for Ultimate Combat, which gives the errata for Crane Wing. Okay, so that means that I change the Crane Wing feat.
I then saw the FAQ/Update for Crane Riposte. Okay, so that means that I change the Crane Riposte feat.
However ... I have just now seen the PRD's version of the Crane Style feat chain. The Crane Wing feat description there is the pre-errata one. The Crane Riposte feat description there bears no resemblance to the pre-errata version, nor to the FAQ/Update version. Instead, it looks like the errata for Crane Wing has been applied to Crane Riposte instead.
What is going on?!?
And if there is any official/semi-official ruling/comment on the Crane Style feat chain that I've missed, please point me to it.
The erratas from the downloads are correct. The PRD hasn't been updated to reflect the changes.
I know the developers have been told about the PRD error (as I have reported it and got a response of we will look into that).
You can do what we are doing in my group, nothing, at least until the whole mess is sorted out and fixed. We are using the original descriptions of the feats as there was such an uproar and a developer claim to revisit the matter, we decided to wait until all of the dust settles to see what the final fate of Crane Wing is.
Some folks may not like that and we do not worry about PFS and all of that so we are just going with the original feat as written and published.
For pfs purposes the latest Printing and the errata that reflect that are the most official rules. For anywhere else really.. its your game.
