I just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. With the Mythic Powers 1 boon, if I bring a copy of Mythic Powers when I play part 3, I can have a full Mythic Rank 3 character, including Path Abilities and Mythic Feats?

I think you meant to say "Mythic Adventures," but yes, you build a mythic Rank 3 character. PLEASE have the character built ahead of time, your GM will be most appreciative.

Yes. There are three options

1) Custom built mythic character. Have the books and KNOW how your character works. If you ask the dm "well how does this work" you're probably going to get a blank stare.

2) Mythic options off of the chronicle in part 2

3) if the character is comming into part 3 without doing part 2, the ruby sage blesses them with the sage blessed template, which is effectively mythic. (i'll take a look later and see exactly what the difference is)

BNW, here's some differences I'm noticing between options 2 and 3. (Option 2 = chronicle sheets, option 3 = someone who hasn't played part 2)

Minor differences:
1. HP: Option 2 gives you 12 extra HP and option 3 gives you 15
2. Ability Score: Option 2 gives you a +2 to any ability score and option 3 does not.
3. Mythic Power Usage: Option 2 gives you 9 usages of Mythic Power and option 3 gives you 11.
4. Surge: Option 2 gives you 1d6+1, rolled twice, taking the highest to add into a d20 and option 3 is only 1d6 rolled once.

Major differences:
Option 2 allows you to pick two of the following mythic abilities on the second mythic sheet: Absorb Blow, Beast's Fury, Fleet Charge, Legendary Magic, Rally, or Surprise Strike.

Option 3 allows you to choose two of the following abilities: Heroic Dodge, Heroic Resilience, Heroic Skills, Heroic Speed, Heroic Spellcasting, Heroic Warrior AND you get a versatile surge ability that lets you use Mythic Might, Penetrating Strike, Savant and Unbeatable.

The Heroic abilities are just things you get to add to your character and are static bonuses, but the versatile surge abilities are similar in nature with the mythic choices from option 2, but still less powerful than option 2.

In summary, option 1 (having the book) is better than option 2 and option 2 is better than option 3 in my opinion.

Yes, options 1 and 2 are supposed to be "better" than option 3, because they're rewards for playing Part 2 before Part 3.

Fully agree on your point Jeff. I've been looking over the differences between all three options and it's just surprising how much of a power difference you'll have between those three. The players who own Mythic Adventures are going to have a much greater advantage over those who don't.

This is one of those situations where my economics degree kicks in and I'm curious if this scenario is going to cause a large increase of sales of Mythic Adventures or not, just to take advantage of option 1.

I can't speak to doing so for a specific scenario, but I've definitely picked up multiple player companion and campaign setting PDFs just to be able to legally use a single spell or feat in them. Rival Guide for Staggering Fall, ISWG for multiple things including some awesome fluff.

No problem BNW. I'm currently playing through Wrath with a friend GMing it, so I'm luckily pretty familiar with some mythic stuff from the player side, so hopefully this will help out a bit from the GM side for this scenario.

I'm probably going to buy the Mythic book soley because of this. Well-played, Paizo!

I'm having some pretty serious trouble trying to work out how to add 3 mythic tiers to a character. Trying to use the PRD, because I knew nearly nothing about mythic before this and never really planned to get into it.

Any chance of a step-by-step tutorial for this scenario?

The boon from Part 2 is subject to the normal rules about owning the resource. In fact it specifically states

Quote:
Alternatively, as long as you have a copy of Pathfinder RPG Mythic Adventures you may apply 3 mythic tiers to your character when playing that scenario.

If you read the book, it will come to you in time.

I suggested this in a couple of other threads but if you aren't comfortable with the mythic rules, just go ahead and use the Mythic Powers 1 and Mythic Powers 2 sheets instead of the book. When I played it we had two that had used the MA book and two who used the Mythic Powers boons without the book. There wasn't a huge power gulf between these options, those of us who used the book had a larger variety of outlandish abilities to choose from but honestly mainly used the abilities that were also on the boon sheets.

I am playing part 1 tomorrow with my summoner. After part 2 when I build him with mythic abilities for part 3, can I apply stuff specifically to the eidolon or is everything applied to the summoner only?

Check out Hierophant path for summoners. Getting some of the summon feats/path abilities are quite good (like applying agile template to your eidolon when you use the summon eidolon spell)

There are a few path abilities that let your eidolon gain surges, but not much else to make them mythic.

Thanks for outlining this. My character leveled up to 6 after part 2 while the group is still lvl 4. Now to make the hard decision, do I want in-tier gold, or do I want to play a mythic character...
