A deal with Vegsundvaag (Spoilers)

Jade Regent

We are playing through The Hungry Storm. My players have rolled into Iqualiat, and they managed to capture Tunuak alive and figure out what he has done.

So, now they plan to head up north with Tunuak in tow and present him to Vegsundvaag so that she may exact her revenge on him. Then they plan to convince her to leave Iqualiat alone.

And I honestly like this idea. However, an angry evil dragon who is mourning the death of her children should be difficult to mollify. I figure that she will start the negotiations by demanding that her children be resurrected. Since that is not possible, I think that she will require the Erutaki to go out and steal six eggs from another dragon somewhere so she can hatch and raise them as her own. And until the sixth egg is delivered, she will require that Iqualiat send six Erutaki children to live with her to ensure that they live up to their side of the bargain.

Does anyone have any other ideas on what bargains Vegsundvaag may agree to to not destroy Iqualiat?

Don't forget that players will want to be rewarded for their choices in skills. If they have Diplomacy they should be able to talk Vegsundvaag down somewhat. Her starting Attitude should be hostile, but the PCs should be able to calm her down some.

Perhaps they might offer themselves or Caravan NPCs as hostages instead of village children?

I just ran the encounter with Vegsundvaag and had the PCs negotiate a situation in which the villagers paid a year's worth of tribute to the dragon. Not an ideal situation for the villagers, but the PCs were kind of ticked that they initially sided with Tunuak.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I appreciate all your input.
