PFS Games for Seekers

Pathfinder Society

Okay, so I am fairly new to PFS. I have two characters. My Rogue is creeping toward 7th level and my Tiefling Magus just hit level 3.

And I'm already looking ahead to playing beyond 11th level.

Does anyone know if Paizo plans on churning out scenarios for Seekers?

I've heard they have Mods for the occasional Con to play but why not make them more common like scenarios for levels 1-5, 3-7, 1-7, 5-9 and the high end of 7-11? I know there are many with level 12s just placed on a shelf. That's weird. Write some stuff for the high end.

If anyone knows the reasons why they have not done this yet, I'd love to hear why. Also, if anyone has some info on PFS scenarios for Seekers in the future, that would be even better. I want to play weekly beyond level 11 with all my characters not just at a Con here or there.

Thanks ahead of time

12th level has always been the hard cap for normal play. While they have been sanctioning outside material for play and released a single retirement arc, they will not be devoting resources to more expansive material and taking away resources from Tier 1-11 play. There may be another 12+ scenario written in the future, but it will not be a regular occurrence.

Mostly because there are few level 12 characters, AND high-level play doesn't fit into a normal time-slot for PFS anyway. This works better as a special event (like a multi-session module) or in a home game.

There are quite a few level 12+ modules, as well as sanctioned Adventure Paths.

You can take two characters all the way to level 20. One via play, one via GMing.

Snip: Because writing a coherent focused story for characters Level 12+ is very difficult. It already gets pretty difficult at 9+, when some characters can scry a location that is needed to be accessed and then teleport/other directly there.

Have an encounter planned for the party on land? Oops, they just teleported directly past it.

The PFS crew also have limited resources. These resources are already directed towards a common path, creating an enjoyable season , season after season directed towards level 1-11. Keep in mind its taking you 33 scenariso to get there. Thats a lot of sessions. I have no desire at all for them to start making stuff for Seeker level, people know going into PFS right from the get go that its geared towards 1-11 play.

I see. Okay, thanks.

There is always playing home games, I guess. And 33 sessions is a lot of fun gaming for sure.

Do not feel too disheartened though Snip. Like has been said above you can get a carry to high levels (I thought 18 was the top, but I might be wrong).

Im personally not a fan of games that high in terms of level , but im sure if you do a search in the forums on this subject you will see how it can be done.

@Matthew P: There are some AP segments that are Tier 16-18, so playing them at 18.2 will get you to 19.2, and then running or playing a certain Special (Rune-carved key, maybe?) will get you to 20.0.

There is still nothing that lets you play at 20, though, I think.

Kinevon just beat me to it, but The Witchwar Legacy is a Tier 16-18 module that fits the bill as well.

I don't know of any special with tiers for higher than 15th level characters.

Race for the Runecarved Key is the only one I know of, hence why there's only one path to 20.

Somehow I can't see allowing a 19th level character to play a Tier 12 module.

We've gotta have something to get us over the top. A forced-stop at 19.2, just short of the end, is cruel and unusual.

Race contains some special notes for higher level PCs and at one point contains a section where every time you defeat a monster a harder one shows up. There are some hard monsters on that higer end of that list.

None of which go higher than CR16 as I recall.

I see your point, TOZ, and it's a valid one. I would not be opposed to being asked to dial my, say, 19th-level PC down to an appropriate power level for the content. If I were bringing a Cleric19, that might mean not casting 9th-level spells.

I'm also not opposed to asking others or being asked to dial it down to an appropriate power level for any content. One of PFS's main challenges is finding that sweet spot and avoiding the trap of overpowering the content, and that challenge applies at all levels of play.

The only way level 19 Pathfinders could face a challenge, is if Shax was somehow involved. Perhaps a venture to his house.

Grand Lodge 4/5

Sounds like something you should write there Thursty.

I'm not saying that I have proof that Race forbids 19th level PCs, I'm just saying I can't believe that was actually intended.

I'm sure that's not the only way. For example, my aristocrat would be appropriate for the challenge of, I don't know, taking over Absalom's merchant economy, or arranging the downfall of House Thrune by instigating Andoran, etc.

Why does it have to be all about combat against giant walls of text with big numbers?

Race for the Rune Carved Key:

It caps out at a CR 18 Advanced Wendigo.

Ah, I see it now.
