Do you ever have that dream...

Where you get turned into the gender you're not?

I had this dream where I was turned into a girl last night. I was at this school and this one guy started obnoxiously hitting on me and I was like "Ugh, men. Leave me alone" and he said "Hey don't judge. You don't know me." To which I responded "Yeah I know men. Go away."

That's not weird right?

That's a dream for some people?

I don't know, maybe? I technically count as a person I think.

Sorry, to be more clear what I'm saying is that's reality for some people. It would be great to be able to wake up from.

To answer the question you posed: It's okay, you're normal, lots of people have strange dreams. Some of mine would make summer blockbuster movies seem pedestrian. Okay, even more pedestrian. :P

Well, I had dreams in which the main protagonist - me - was female, or just intangible presence, Corwin of Amber (yeah, I had a dream where I was Corwin of Amber... Yes, I like Zelazny much, why do you even ask?) or even some stranger things. I don't recall being female in a dream involving anything related to gender, sexuality or cultural ideas regarding masculinity/womanhood, though. It was just cosmetic change linked to in-dream natural awareness of being one.

I've had dreams where I saw things from a different person's perspective and sometimes that means another gender.

The closest dreams I can remember are where I'm JLawrence-Mystique (never comics-Mystique or Romijn-Mystique), but I don't remember any shapeshifting occurring.

I can't imagine someone dreaming they're another sex or gender as weird, unless they feel like it's weird. My subconscious is always cooking up strange stuff that isn't about me so much as collaging/processing stuff in often random ways looking for clues and concepts to the beginnings of questions. Or so I guess.

If it feels weird to you, can you articulate why and what about it feels weird? Is it because it's new? Did something you read or observe about a guy(s) behavior toward a woman spark it? Did something you experienced about a guy(s) behavior toward you spark it? Did you read a provocative piece of fiction before bed? Did you eat something unusual before bed? Something else?

I've never had a dream like that before and that is why it stands out.

My dreams tend to be full color, detailed, and at times movie quality, but most of the time its a third person perspective. This was first person.

I'm female in most of my dreams.

Understandably I have reason for this, but I'm always happier for the experience once I wake up, even if I'm back in a male body.

..i dream like this

Interesting. Do you know if it is common part of dreams of other transfolk or if you are just lucky in that regard?

I wouldn't worry about it then. Your unconscious mind likely cooks up new-to-you stuff all the time, and this was the first time it was so outside your normal perception zones that it was memorable.

Now if you start having sequels to the dream and start to feel uncomfortable in your male body while you're awake, then your unconscious might be sending you a message. Until then, just repeat to yourself it's just a dream and that should just relax. :)

I'm not particularly worried, it stood out and was wondering if others have similar dreams.

Although at one point someone in dream stated that there are others who would kill for what happened to me.

I honestly can't say for certain, though for folks that I've spoken with, my dreaming patterns in that regard seem relatively normal.

I once dreamed I was turning into Andy Rooney, but that was likely because earlier that morning I was freaked out to find 1) a couple eyebrow hairs growing perpendicular to the rest, and 2) that I hadn't noticed them like that for at least a couple days. After I plucked them and remain vigilante, I've had no more were-Rooney nightmares.

My sister once told me she'd had a dream in which she was Harry Potter. She (Harry), Ron and Hermione had to go somewhere, but then my sister told them to wait because she had to get sanitary pads. Ron and Hermione didn't understand why Harry would need such a thing, but my sister in her sleep couldn't see what was so weird about it.

So at the same time, her subconscious was aware and unaware of the discrepancy...

Dreams are strange.

I make a damn fine woman... in my dream...

I've dreamed of going mad with power, and having this conscious, detached realization of what was wrong.

Nope. I've swapped species but never gender.

I usually dream I'm Spider-Man.

THWIP!

You know, now that I think about it, I never have switched genders in my dreams. Which is odd, because I've switched everything else. Of course, now that it's been suggested to my subconscious, I'll probably turn into Tars Tarkas one of these nights.

I've dreamed I was a boy on rare occasion, but not transformed from a girl to boy in those dreams. There's also been characters in my dreams who are intersex (usually women with male genitalia). Most of the time though I and most characters in my dreams are female, even my purported animus).

I've also dreamed I was a werewolf, and I was a cartoon character.

I do occasionally get those dreams where your teeth start falling out.

I get dreams like that a lot, usually when under stress.

Me too.

Yeah I get those every so often too. My three go-to nightmares seem to be:
  • getting a continuous list of tasks that I never complete before getting more.
  • being chased by something (I never see it) in a high-walled maze with murky lighting.
  • friendly social situations and I'm the only one to notice that I have hundreds of thorn bugs swarming just under the surface of my skin

I've had that dream once as a child. It was not very pleasant and for some reason my Ducktales figuring was there.

I usually get shot by bad people and wake up.

My bad dreams typically involve me standing in long lines that never seem to move.

Apparently your subconcious is sexist...

As in not liking men? I'll cop to that.

For some odd reason, whenever I'm having lucid dreams, I'm presented with a literal menu screen (sort of a mix between Netflix and the Wii menu is the best way I can describe it) with a selection of reccuring dreams from where to choose.

Some have evolving plotlines, and others I'm pretty sure I just keep seeing in the exact same way. There's this particular dream I've been having for as long as I can remember where I'm carving a city out of a cliff; every time I go back to it, the thing looks bigger, although the method/tools change apparently at random. I keep seeing more and more people in it, but I can never identify any of them.

As for the question, no, never dreamed of myself as a woman, or at least I don't recall ever dreaming that.
