The stable costs 5sp per day. Is this cost constant or is it only applied when the stable is in use for that day (IE. I go adventuring and the horse is not in it's stable for 8 days, do I still have to pay the 4gp stable cost or not)?
Depends. You are renting the stable stall for your horse. Typically, you pay by the day, so only when using the stall. On the other hand, if you want the stable to reserve the stall for you, they'll probably charge you for it whether you use it or not.
