My frind is going to play a Samurai so the simple question is: are there any Cavalier or Samurai feats that tie directly to their class abilities?
Paladins got feats tied to smite evil, lay on hands, their auras, their spell casting, etc.
Clerics got feats tied to their Channel energy and their spell casting
Fighter go fighter feats.
Barbarians got the extra rage feat and the extra rage power feat, etc.
So what about Cavalier and Samurai? Any feat that grants a bonus to hit or saves when using Challenge?
Anything improving the bonus from the Banner?
Is there anything?

A cavalier should be familiar with teamwork feats, or at least the one he chooses as a bonus feat. Practiced Tactician gives him extra uses of the Tactician ability.
If he plans to multiclass, he can eventually take Horse Master to restore his mount's progression.
Wave Strike can be used with the samurai's weapon expertise.

Banner of Doom (Combat)
The mere sight of your fiendish banner is enough to send ripples of fear through your enemies.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +8, banner class feature, tiefling.
Benefit: As long your banner is clearly visible, all enemies within 60 feet take a –2 penalty on saving throws against fear. This penalty does not stack with other effects that provide enemies with penalties on saving throws against fear.

Rebounding Leap (Combat)
Your riding and lancing expertise allows you to enter and leave the saddle with great speed.
Prerequisites: Leaping lance class feature, Acrobatics 5 ranks, Ride 11 ranks.
Benefit: When you succeed at the Acrobatics check to jump as part of your leaping lance class feature, you can remount your steed as a swift action.
So, part-way through your ride by attack, you leap from your horse, lance a guy into red paste, re-mount and keep running.
