I just got my PFS cleric to level 11, and I'm looking at level 6 spells to prepare. I enjoy using plane shift and the pit spells (from the Caves subdomain), so I'm considering retraining my Spell Focus to the conjuration school. I found this conjuration spell in Champions of Purity:
School conjuration (creation) [good]; Level cleric 6, inquisitor 5,
paladin 4, sorcerer/wizard 6
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, F (a length of fine golden chain)
Range short (25 ft. + 5 ft./level)
Target one creature
Duration 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw Reflex negates; Spell Resistance no
A creature targeted by this spell is held immobile by glowing
golden chains composed of pure light. The creature is paralyzed
and held in place, but may attempt a new saving throw each round
to end the effect. While held by the golden chains, a creature
cannot use any sort of extradimensional travel, such as astral
projection, blink, dimension door, ethereal jaunt, etherealness,
gate, maze, plane shift, shadow walk, teleport, and similar spells
and spell-like abilities. The spell does not affect creatures that are
already in ethereal or astral form when the spell is cast.
Anyone have any experience with this spell? Is it worth the 6th level slot?

It is a definite safe or suck (die), that is essentially a high dc hold person combined with a dimensional anchor. I think it's worth it if you have a high enough casting stat and ability to overcome SR. Though in a campaign were reoccurring villains might have a story purpose it might not be a big thing

Great spell. The fact that it is single target and the new save each round is its drawbacks, but it the latter is a minor one, since you only need one round in order to have the enemy coup de graced and most tough enemies have low Relfex save, so they will probably fail the first one.
Granted, it is a single target save-or-suck spell, which are not the spells you should rely on, but for such a spell it is awesome, so it definately worth a spell slot. Just do not over do it.

It is basically a higher level Hold Monster targeting a different save and with no SR. Also it is not mind affecting so works on undead, oozes, golems (no SR) and well pretty much everything.
Given Hold Monster is an ace spell even with the extra saves then I say go for it. Reflex saves of die are pretty rare for Clerics.
Just make sure to have a helpful person on hand to apply the CDG in case it breaks free.
In fact the more I read the spell the more amazing it appears to be. Targeting Reflex it also makes a nice option for murdering tricksy Conjuration Wizards.

No spell resistance and this make it worth it in my book.
Sometimes you have to keep those slippery things in place, so you can kill them and get their phat lewts.
Or else you might have a recurring villain on your hands. DM's love those.
Obviously not as good as Dimensional Anchor at this, due to the every round save.
But it also does the same thing as Hold Monster, I'd say the stopping teleport features and no spell resistance make it worthwhile.
Particularly since Clerics/Oracles don't get Hold Monster.
Let's face it Dazing Spell (that thing is more broken every time I see it) makes it useless in a sense. But if you cast a Persistent Chains of Light you have a pretty good save or die going.
Plus you really don't have to have them constrained for too long. By the time you get this spell, Rocket Tag is going full bore.

For me it is the lack of the Mind Affecting tag and targetting Reflex that make this potentially stellar. SR: No also means it works on Golems which, with their utterly terrible Reflex saves, are pretty much never going to break free.
Edit: Damn constructs are immune to paralysis so it doesnt work on them. As are oozes and undead. This is getting worse every time I look at it. I suppose the Reflex save and No: SR makes it a great tool for murdering Dragons if they werent also immune! Bah, feeling very much not worth it for an arcane caster. Not bad for a Cleric who lack many Reflex targeting options.
