Eidolon Initial Evolutions

Shadow Lodge

Can an eidolon whose base form includes an evolution that the summoner doesn't want, can he remove it (without getting an evolution points back)?

RAW i don't believe so. Non-PFS i don't see why a DM couldn't allow it.

They're probably called "base forms" for a reason.

What would you want to remove?

My guess would be two legs of the quadraped evolution so he could have his chocobo, I mean axebeak mount. :)

It would be a GMs call, but the base assumption is the base form is what you start with as is.

One immediate feature I would remove would be the tail slap on the serpentine form. What use is a secondary attack at level 1? Without it, the serpentine form would just have the bite...which means 1.5xstr and power attack damage. Putting those base points into armor or something would make it a lot easier to justify the choice.

As is, the tail slap just nerfs it straight up, and it seems like poor design. At the very least, switch it out for a sting attack, which has the exact same evo price, but it doesn't only add dead weight. It would be just like how a biped can switch out claws for a slam attack.

But that is just my two cents. I don't know what Serum wants.

Or a rhinoceros-type quadruped with gore etc.
