My character has a lv 9 Fiendish Vessel (Tiefling, LE Asmodeus). My character's and her concept is outsider hunter. My character is a ranger with favored enemy good outsider. She is the support and heal, he kills type thing.
SO I have 5 feats at lv 9. These are my thoughts but I wanted to ask you what you thought.
1) extra channel
3) SPell focus necro (for the harms)
5) Quick channel
7) Scribe scroll (for the sometime spells)
9) Craft Rod
Tpically rolls with Shield other on so that is what the channels are for. She has the favored class bonus of +1/lv vs spell resistance of outsiders so I thought spell pen wasnt such a good bang for the buck. I dont see where combat casting is helpful between the shield other and the rod of reach from Craft Rod.
Thoughts and suggestions?

Spell Focus (Necromancy) isn't really worth for dealing damage through inflict wounds/harm- unless you'll plan on using more spells like blindness/deafness and other condition-bestowing necromancy spells. I think it would be better to take Improved Channel in its place increasing chance of good opponents becoming sickened by Channel Evil (I interpret "For the purposes of feats that affect channel energy, this ability counts as channeling negative energy." sentence in description of channel evil as sufficient to fulfill the channel energy requirement of Improved Channel feat, check with your GM to make sure that s/he agrees with my interpretation).
Unless you really plan on using lots of rods I would replace Craft Rod with either Brew Potion or Craft Wondrous Item. They are more versatile item creation feats than Craft Rod.

Yeah I dont want to take that much advantage of the craft feats. Plus, someone else in the party has craft wondrous. The Imp channel is a good idea.
I was thinking with scribe scroll, that would take the place of craft potion since CP tops at lv 3 spells.
Craft rod will basically remove the need for the metamagic feats. Three reaches a day. Three maximizes a day instead of learning the feats.

How about giving your cohort some basic martial competence? That would increase her effectiveness without hindering her healing and support roles at all. This might even make her better at those roles, as foes may give her more respect.
In the mind of the GM, when deciding what action a foe will take, there is a world of difference between 'not a credible martial threat' and 'skirmisher'. Foes will usually try to close with the former, but may be wary of the latter. The act of being prickly provides a subtle defense that is difficult to measure.
Possibly you do not want the NPC cohort inflicting martial damage, and thus drawing the spotlight from the heroes. If so, that's pretty reasonable. :-)
