What is a particularly good Wizard Archetype(probably just one level), for a mostly Martial character?

What do you want to get out of it? Why do you want a one level dip?

Sczarni

Mostly I'm doing it so I can have access to Mage Armor/Shield. I just don't understand the Wizard class all that well, and I would like to know what else, if possible, I can get out of that 1 level dip.

I am slowly combining and trying to Optimize(not for the sake of DPR) the Monk class. Right now I'm working with Flowing-Qinggong Monk 17+Urban Druid 1+Unarmed Fighter 1+Something Wizard 1.

(Edit:The reason for Unarmed Fighter 1 is to help this Feat Starved Monk, and it won't make any difference in FoB for me. That's primarily for getting Snake Style.

The reason for Urban Druid 1, is to later have access to their spell list and be able to activate a Wand of Strong Jaw(though I have to find one somewhere) and getting access to the Charm domain for Dazing Touch. Then combining Dazing Touch with Conductive on my AoMF. Hooray for a once-a-round Daze Touch Attack with Flurry.

The reason for Wizard was listed at the top.)

Well, with one level of Divination (Scryer) you can get Eldritch Knight. If not aiming for that...Tranmutation and Wood each add to a stat (though as an Enhancement bonus it will not stack with Belts), and Conjuration (Teleportation) can be very cool for escaping grapples and such. The Elemental Schools mostly give elemental Resistances, too, which is quite nice if you lack such things otherwise.

Spellslinger gives you Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Firearms) and Gunsmithing. Siege Mage gives you some siege engineering Feats...

EDIT: Ah, based on that description I'd go Conjuration (Teleportation). Mage Armor's Conjuration, and the abilities are cool.

Scarab Sages

If you are only interested in low-level play, one trick is to take universalist mage so you can throw your weapon and have it return to you.

Not that great at high levels, but a fun thing for a low level fighter/wizard to do with his great sword.
