I'm applying the half-fiend template to a slag giant and I'm confused about skill point allocation. Do I just calculate the skill points based on the template and allocate them as desired? Do I add to the slag giant's preexisting skill distribution? Or is there another option?
Normally, a humanoid should have 2+int skill points per hd, so your slag giant should have 20. The half-fiend raises that to 6+int, so your giant should have 40 more, plus 10 or 20 more depending on if you add +2 or +4 to its int.
