Awesome characterconcepts for the AP? (renamed for better understanding)

Rise of the Runelords

Hello Forum. First time poster here. I have some questions for which Character to play and also about the AP in general.

I have almost no experience with PF Classes aside from Psionic (which is sadly out) and the Summoner (might be an option).

The current group is level 7 (it would also be nice if you take that into consideration ... I think it's about the middle of the AP?) and consists of:
Fighter
Cleric
Sorceror
Witch
Zen Archer
Rogue
>some of which don't come to every session (so sometimes the group is smaller .. sometimes bigger)

What class/archetype/PRC would you build to fit this group and the campaignstyle? It is important for me to have a very flavourful character fitting the group but since I don't know much about the setting or the AP in specific I could use some help there.

Rules for creation are: 2 traits, 20 pb, all official Paizo material otherwise

Thanks everyone :) ... Any help appreciated

Ha, well the question is, "What would I want to play?" and "What would do best in the AP?"

Former: A monk focused on strength and grappling, which might seem insane to some who are familiar with the path.

Latter: A dwarven ranger with favored enemy Giant. Not really a spoiler since it's suggested in the Player's Guide.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am quite experienced in minmaxing (or lets say increasing power) of classes so I'm looking for a characterconept which meshes well with the AP (I literally have no idea about the environment there). I think no matter of the class I use I'll be an effective member of the group.

For example which classes have special background? What about races? What fits well with the group I posted above.

I'm not an especially big fan of Rangers myself but I'll look through it. They seem to have some interesting things.

Rangers do very well (especially with hatred toward Giants as mentioned below). So do Paladins.

But given the general build of the group? You could either go for an Alchemist and be the group buffer... or go for a Wizard (as the only person in the group who seems to have any use for spellbooks would be the Witch, and she can't use all those spells in them).

Thanks for the advice. I am not just looking for which classes to pick for this group but rather which classes/races/characterconcepts work really well/cool/awesome in the AP. And I don't mean powerwise (as mentioned that won't be a problem no matter the class I pick) but flavourwise.

Let me give you an example: A Gianhunting drunken dwarf would have a blast in this campaign, a micehunting human with a fear of hills probably not (exaggerated of course)

For example would an Archeologistesk Character have fun in this adventure?

It is also important that I join them at level 7 so some of the lowlevel stuff is not so important. I don't know which part of the AP that is so some advice on how to integrate a character there might be good.

Flavor wise a character who is interested in ancient Thassilonian ruins and history would do well. So yes, an archaeologist would have fun.

A character who is out to hunt giants (later in the path) and experience the wilds, ancient dungeons would have fun.

A home-body character interested in preserving the safety and well-being of his/her village would do well.

If I were to make a character purely for roleplaying and getting enmeshed in the campaign I would make a farmer who decided to take up fighter or ranger to protect his home village.

Thanks! Those all help me a great deal :). I tryed to find some more material on the continent without spoiler but aside from the Players Guide (which has some handy information but not really a lot) I couldn't find any good ones ... hence the reason I came here in the first place.

Currently I'm thinking a curious small race with an interest in archeology (class I'll decide after the concept is finished).

If you have other great ideas conceptwise please share them with me ... or characters you found were fun to play in the AP.

edit: would a Character doing 70 damage at level 7 if all attacks hit be too strong?

Dunno. I mean, you DO Have to hit with them all. And in my Runelords group I've a 20-strength Barbarian using two-handed weapons and Power Attack. He... is lethal, to say the least.

Looking at your group again, your basic thoughts on concepts and the like...

Druid. There's nobody else covering that area so there's little duplication. You'll want another divine caster if the cleric doesn't turn up. And you make a decent melee brute if the fighter isn't there.

The only real issue is that you already have 6 PCs, so your animal companion will make that 8 which can bog things down a bit.

Concept-wise, it could be someone whose home in the wilderness was destroyed by the

hey thanks for the replies. I'll see what I can get going. Druid is definitely another option though I have to go through the archetypes to find an interesting one (the normal on strikes me as a bit boring).

A bard would bring your group to new levels of combat excellence. Good hope and inspire courage will add +2 each to hit and damage. Adding a bard was the most powerful thing my group ever did.
