Me and about 4 other people who know each other want to start a PbP game. Our schedules are out of phase which is why we've come here looking for someone to GM for us. I have the most XP with pathfinder and the rest have been exposed to it but not very much so with that in mind we would like something simple for beginners. There is no preference to what AP we play but homebrews should be pretty cannon. Thanks for reading!

A few questions if you don't mind.
What style of play does your group prefer, and/or, what types of characters do you want to play?
Would you prefer Beginner Box rules or regular?
How often are people interested/able to post?
Not sure if I'm the GM you're looking for, these will help people, including myself, get a better idea what you are looking for.

Also, have any of you ever played PbP before? I ask, because the format is a very particular thing, both from the player and GM perspective, and may not be everyone's cup of tea.
If not, I would suggest that people play a short game, say a Pathfinder Society scenario, and see if the format and the posting frequency is something that they would enjoy.
Conman
I have played several PbP games and am expecting to show the group how to get the most out of playing this way, so I don't think that would be an issue but you're right, a short game is probably the best idea.
Regular rules should be fine, they're all pretty quick learners so that's not an issue.
I'm not really sure how to answer the play style question, if you could elaborate I'd appreciate that.
The characters will probably be pretty diverse and creative, at least most of them, and we're looking at a daily post if not more if that's possible.
Thanks again you guys!
Apollo Randasian
If there's 5 of you and you'd like it a 6 player campaign, I'd happily join as a 6th player. Curse of the Crimson Throne would be a good one to play (and one I have a character for as I'd love to play it myself), and I GM my own rise of the runelords game do could help with rules if a GM is willing to take this on.
Failing that, I could run We Be Goblins for you? I've never gm'd vis play by post before, but do have that short scenario ap on my pc somewhere. :-)
DM DoctorEvil
I'd be happy to run the First Steps PFS scenario for you, which would give your players a taste of the game, and also an intro to PFS (if needed).
The PC's would have to be PFS-legal, but you'd want to register them for credit, but otherwise, I'm down for it.
We could see what developed after that, either another scenario, a module, a campaign of a full-one AP.
Send me a PM if you want to get started.
Conman
I'd like to hold off on PFS for now. I'd also like the first game to be a regular type game so we be goblins isn't what we're looking for. You guys have good ideas, thanks for your input.
We be Goblins is in the right direction though, a short game with simple concepts, the players want to be expressive with their characters though so I've given them the core and featured races and the core classes.
Apollo Randasian
Okay, well I've decided I'd be happy to run a module for you guys, so you have two options (unless you can point me to anymore and dislike these ideas):
1. Master of the Fallen Fortress
2. Dawn of the Scarlet Sun
Now the latter feels more interesting to me, but that's mainly because it seems to feature demons.
Dawn of the Scarlet Sun recommends 6 level 5's, but if you can only get 4 of you (yourself included), I'll start you off at level 6. :)
If this sounds interesting to you, I've also decided on what your build guidelines will be:
HP: Rolled+Usual benefits (Con, Favoured Class etc)
Starting Wealth: Half of what your level would give (so instead of 10,500 at level 5 for example, you'd get 5,250gp)
Traits: 1 (only because it's a short adventure)
Stats: Roll 4d6 six times and minus the lowest number from each roll. No re-roll's unless you end up with a build under 10 point buy.
No Third-Party Material
Races: Core primarily, but if you have an awesome concept, I'll happily consider any race.
Alignments: Preferably anything that isn't evil.
Classes: Any available.
Final details
* Please write a small backstory (can be 1-3 paragraphs long) explaining your motives and intentions.
* Please can each player PM me with the focal points of their character concepts.
I am quite a lenient GM and I like to do things sometimes that aren't necessarily in the rules (such as giving the PC's boon's or abilities unique to a campaign depending on what they wish to do with their character), and if you have any crazy concepts for character design, please fire them my way. :)
that's it, so hopefully you're happy to play with those guidelines and I'll look forward to seeing you all pop into this thread.
Dalgar the Great
Just butting in real quick, Master of the Fallen Fortress is fun. I would not recommend playing Dawn of the Scarlet Sun because A)It really sucks starting as a new player with a higher level character and B) That adventure can be pretty killer. And if for some reason Apollo can't run the game then I'd love to step in as an alternate. :)
Either way best wishes and happy gaming.
Apollo Randasian
No problem. :)
Like I said, the choice is yours and if you feel you're better suited to Master of the Fallen Fortress, I'll run that for you. :)
I'll also post up necessary campaign information when I know what you wish to do, so you don't have to download the module yourself and risk spoiling things. :)
The main thing is - Everyone knows each other.
How you want to go about that is down to you guys.
You could all be friends, all be working within the guard of Absalom, all bump into each other along the way as you're all travelling with your own reasons etc, or some of you may even be at the starting location before the rest of you turn up.
I'm here for you to work it out with both yourselves and me. :)
And, just in case it's present among your group, I am fine with party conflict because I see roleplaying like real life. You don't all get on. Fights will and can happen and in a much harsher world where weapons are always worn, death is more likely to happen. I like conflict if it can add to the story but if it's fun for nobody, I trust you will resolve it in game.
All I ask is that your actions are true to your characters. :)
Apollo Randasian
No problem. :)
The latest I should really stay up is about 2am here with work and all, but right now it's 4.15 am and I'm up in 3 and a half hours.
Are you 5 or 8 hours behind England's GMT do you know?
Regardless, there's enough time in a day to see and reply to all posts, but I just want to get a rough idea of the time you guys can play.
Thanks! :)

Hey Guys,
I know Conman IRL and am going to be playing in this game as well.
I have DnD exp but not too much Pathfinder. But I'm a natural gamer and will most likely be playing along with people IRL.
I don't have much preference, I would prefer something quick and relatively simple to get us going in hopes of progressing to something thicker.
Thanks,
Remi
Hello, I am one of the players in this campaign. Very new to Pathfinder, but glad to be a part of this and ready to learn. Thanks, Apollo, for offering to DM.
Here are the stats I rolled:
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2, 2) = 11
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 4) = 14
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 1) = 8
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 4) = 17
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 6) = 18
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 2) = 12

Yea, so you rolled under a 10, so for the rolls that were under a 10, please reroll those specific rolls. :)
I'd also just like to say that as you are 5 hours behind me, I generally post between 4pm and 9pm your time but because my work shifts change all of the time, my time online could be starting anywhere between 7am your time and ended usually at 9pm your time (2am for me), but because it's a play by post, I can reply whenever I'm on (which is every day), so if possible can you guys post at least once every day please? I'll also be doing that myself but I'm fully accepting of things coming up and delaying things, so whenever that occurs, no problem.
With regards to maps, how do you all feel about roll20?
I would use imageshack but they now charge for the service....sellout's, haha.
Apollo Randasian
Once done, post your characters into this thread and I'll just double check everything and then when you're ready, I'll create the gameplay thread.
I'm raring to go, so the sooner you guys get things sorted, the quicker we can play. :)
I'll be spending my two days off (tomorrow and friday) looking over the module and preparing for everything, but am more than happy to get started before friday.
Devil'sLittleSister
Hello everyone, sorry for the delay. I am one of the people in the group interested in playing. I am new to the game, so please let me know if I am doing this wrong. My stats would be:
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 2) = 14
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 3) = 17
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 6) = 19
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5, 6) = 17
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 3) = 11
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 1) = 9
So,

If I am not mistaken I would need to re-roll the last one.
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 6) = 14

Thanks guys.
Just need Demi and Remi to re-roll the rolls that were below 10 and then that's the rolling for stats done.
Those of you who've completed your stat rolls already, please begin/finish building your characters following the rules I set in place.
Backstories of around 2-3 paragraph's would be great for flavour but so long as you have something detailing your characters personality, that should be sufficient as this is only a short module. :)

Regarding your short backstories, you're based in Absalom and the module assumes you all know each other, however, you do have a few options regarding that and depending on what you choose to go with will depend on whether you bump into the other PC's along the way, at your destination or before even departing.
You are in Absalom, the mighty City at the Center of the World,
and you’ve always longed to explore one of the countless ruins of
failed conquerors that litter the plains outside the city’s walls.
You’ve heard rumors that one of the sealed siege castles has
been laid open by a minor earthquake. Word on the street is
that no one has yet entered the tower, which folks are calling the
“Fallen Fortress.” What better way to start a life of excitement
and adventure than by exploring its long-abandoned, dusty
halls and perhaps claiming its ancient treasures?
Some options to help give you purpose for being there are as follows:
1. You've been craving adventure and have heard rumour of a castle long sealed, recently opened by force due to an earthquake.
2. You could be members of Absalom’s Eagle Garrison, scouting for possible threats to the city in the Cairnlands. Your commanding officer has sent you to the Fallen Fortress to ensure that whatever is there is no threat to Absalom.
3. If you have a religious character, your church may have asked you to explore the ruined siege castle, perhaps to investigate rumors of undead within the tower or to recover a religious relic thought to be inside.
4. A historian or wealthy collector has hired you to collect any historical or valuable artifacts that might still be within the ruined tower.
Alternatively, feel free to create your own reasons for being there. Perhaps you just stumbled across the damaged Castle and heard a noise from inside? Maybe you saw it as a lootable target? Perhaps you ended up staying there the previous night to get out of bad weather?
Go nuts!
Apollo Randasian
That's great, but...YOU'RE ONLY HALFWAY THERE! :p
I need to see your complete build so I know that everything is correct, and if it's not, I can help you to make it so.
For example, I need your traits, feats, everything listed please. This is what's requested of in all play by posts so please take a look at some of my characters and how I've presented my stats. :)
If you click on my name, it should allow you to view all of my Aliases.
View Apollo, Charles and/or Lelouch Vi Orlovsky and even copy and paste the format if you'd like as it should give you a great idea as to how we all do things on here.
You can also put your HP in your class bar and it'll show up above your display pic once the game is started (it doesn't ever in discussion), then instead of putting your stats at the side, if you spoiler them in your profile with [spoiler=title here ] text here [/ spoiler] without the spaces, it'll let you compress it to save space.
Apollo Randasian
Also, where's everyone currently located?
Conman and Gary - Are you guys now in Absalom? This campaign takes place near there, which is pretty much the central point of the world, but in the Cairnlands.
Good picture for a level 20 Aronas
Please give this a read as it's all about Absalom.
Bottom right of the map is a small island. This is Absalom's location on the Isle of Kortos.
Any questions?
Apollo Randasian
Those of you with backstories, you've still got a little bit to do, but once I've signed you off please go here.
Once I know where you all are, I'll type more than the campaign introduction, giving you something to go on to get started. :)
If you're playing a Ranger, PM me as I'll advise you on what would be a good choice for your favoured enemy, though you would have to have reason in your story as to why you have the correct favoured enemy, as the enemies within are unknown, so perhaps you're a scout who lives in the surrounding forest? Maybe you wander the plains protecting the land and thought you spotted something go in? Perhaps you saw something clear enough to know exactly what it is? Give me ideas and we'll figure it out. :)
Apollo Randasian
You're missing your ranks and Initiative, but I believe your initiative should be 6 anyway.
Make sure you keep track of your ranks, and as for wealth, you have more than your class would allow.
Gladius = 15gp
x2 = 30gp
Same for 2x Longsword's.
Chainshirt = 100gp
Bedroll = 1sp
Torch x3 = 3cp
Grappling Hook = 1gp
Rope (50ft)(15.24M) = 1gp for hemp, 10gp for silk, which one?
Rations x2 (for this expedition) = 1sp
Flint & Steel = 1gp
Totaling: 163gp (173gp if silk rope), 2sp, 3cp
That's not half of 175, or in this case to be generous I'll up the wealth to half of your max possible starting wealth for your class, which as a fighter is half of 300, so 150gp. :)
So as note, your starting wealth should be half of your maximum possible wealth for your class, unless you have a trait such as Rich Parents.
Please note down your ranks, Archetype's and everything notable for your build.
Apollo Randasian
Okay, well let me know in here or via PM when you're ready.
There's no need for your friends to feel intimidated. I've not run a PBP on here before, and am currently recruiting for a full AP, so I've got my work cut out for me. I don't feel intimidated though. :p
If they just roll up their characters and display their stats in their profile like I have done, they'll go a long way, and if they're unsure of any rules, as GM I'll be more than happy to explain. :)
