Hi everyone,
So, I've been going through my old Dragon magazines and rediscovered the wonderful Master Astrologer prestige class. Determined to play a Varisian master astrologer for my group's upcoming Mummy's Mask game, I'm trying to figure out what would bring such a character to Osirion (or even Wati specifically). Our own Egypt has a rather storied history with the development of astrology, but Osirion doesn't seem to have much going on in the field, save for Menetnashte's Orrery in Sothis (a city that I don't believe shows up at all in the MM AP).
Is there anything I'm missing in the way of Osirion and astrology?
I'd hate to make something up if the connective tissues I'm looking for already exist. Maybe something with sphinxes and astrology? Or Varisians hailing from Osirion originally? I'll literally run with almost anything to make this concept work.
Thanks!

Well, on Golarion, Lirgen was the place with all the astrologers. Sadly, most of them offed themselves after the place was flooded. A bunch of them still leads an isolationist existence in Jaha in the Mwangi Expanse.
I, too, have been looking to adapting that PrC (for Eberron, though). It's incredibly flavorful. Never got around to it.

There's a section on different astrological traditions in the forthcoming Occult Mysteries. While it doesn't have much information on Osirian astrology (which isn't inherently different than other astrology in the Inner Sea region), you'll likely want to pick it up anyway, as it includes some astrology-related traits, spells, and other rules subsystems.
Varisians' common worship of Desna lends itself to reading into signs among the stars, and her focus on travel could be all the justification a follower of hers would need to travel to Osirion, whether to research astrology or just to see the world.
