Given the extreme difference of Numeria and Osirion, both in general feel and, well, the former's well-known polarizing elements (ie sci-fi and fantasy mishmashed), I'm not at all expecting there to be any major connections between the two adventure paths. However, given Osirion's ancient connections to the Dominion of the Black, do you guys think there will be any connection at all, no matter how small?
I ask this because I was re-reading Distant Worlds, especially the part of the Dark Tapestry on page 51, and the last sentence was particularly interesting:
"What makes this possibility even more disturbing is that, if certain theories are to be believed, some of the wall carvings and carefully excavated riddles in the most ancient tombs can be combined to form a sort of clock---one counting down to a date in the not-so-distant future."
Does this date mark the emergence of the Iron Gods? Are we going to see any sort of foreshadowing or cryptic clues about this possible connection in Mummy's Mask?

From what I've understood from posts on the matter, the Dominion connections of Osirion aren't going to be playing any major role in the AP at all; perhaps even none.
Hmmm, that's a little disappointing. I was hoping they'd do something like Rise of the Runelords and Shattered Star, the latter being an indirect sequel of the former. Hopefully I'll be able to re-do Mummy's Mask as a sort of prologue to Iron Gods for my group.

There's more to Osirion than what Dominion of the Black elements. Mummy's Mask does not really touch the Dominion elements at all. There MIGHT be an Easter Egg here or there, but don't count on it.
Iron Gods very much has Dominion of the Black elements in it.
The two APs are not intended to have any connection—no more than, say, Kingmaker and Carrion Crown.

Yeah, I get Osirion's appeal beyond the Dominion elements. I really love the idea of a desert, Egyptian-based campaign. And hey, if there's at least Easter Eggs, that's gotta mean something.
That being said, Kinda hope Paizo expands a bit on the whole countdown clocks/Aucturn Enigma. God knows I love a good Egyptian themed setting, but I feel like Paizo's shied away from Osirion's connections to the DoB for some reason.
Ah well, no problem for me to establish a link myself for my group :>

There might be some more information for you in the upcoming Occult Mysteries book. At the very least, it is going to talk more about the Night Heralds.

It might actually be because of their involvement in Iron Gods. Having the Dominion of the Black play a major role in two APs back-to-back risks alienating people who don't like them as villains and burn-out even for folks that do.
But all my campaigns end up a little Lovecraftian, so I'll probably be adding hints right alongside you :)
Cheers!

Yeah, when you put it like that, I can't help but feel relieved that the Dominion doesn't play a major role, even a minor one, in Mummy's Mask. Hints and foreshadowing are way better than having them as in your face villains.

What/who/where is this dominion of the black you are talking about?
"Dominion of the Black" is a loose federation of malevolent aliens and otherworldly entities made up primarily of the neh-thallgu, but not exclusively them. We've been pretty coy about releasing more details about them over the past half decade or so since we first mentioned them, but we'll have more to say about them during Iron Gods.

...or as recently as the occult book, mayhaps? Or is that more on the Aucturn Enigma?
