Exp speed

Wrath of the Righteous

Either I can't find it or it doesn't actually say but what is the exp speed of this AP?

We just cleared the Temple to Torag and stopped there, I am just wondering if this is fast exp or medium for leveling and at what points should they be leveling up at?

All APs except the 3.5 ones assumes medium track. In the front of the book they'll give you rough points oh where characters should be certain levels. i just did away with exp for this one since it goes all the way to the top.

Rise of the Runelords anniversary also uses fast XP, because it was converted to PF from 3.5, but otherwise Caius is correct.

It says they should be level 2 by the time they hit Den of the wicked and vile (I think that is what it is off the top of my head) They have each got 1k xp but they would need 1k more and it doesn't feel like they would get it prior to getting 2 more pages.

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The Kenabres undercity has a lot of encounters and options for story awards. I eschewed XP for this one, added a prelude, and dropped a few of the undercity encounters so leveling wouldn't seem so fast. If they get everything they will probably be level 2 when they enter the mongrel lair and approaching or passing 3 when they complete it.

Did you make use of the random encounter table for the underground in the back? I didn't know it was there until they got past that part which if I were using xp may have put them behind.

Grand Lodge

No I didn't see it

Yeah it's poorly placed for that. That probably explains any xp deficit you have at this point.

In the first book especially you do need to include wandering monsters for your PCs to stay on track. In a similar note, the AP assumes that the PCs have around five encounters in the ruined city as well so make sure that you include some.
Depending on your group, you can also add an extra mook or two, or a few advanced templates to creatures to help keep them on track.

We just completed the RotRL AP on medium and came out to the appropriate level. IF we had used fast it we would have been a level higher at the end.

Just repeating what James has said in the past. Also, page 11 of the book.
