Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

This is a question about the Arcanist Class in the upcoming Advanced Class Guide. I have the final playtest documents and was reading the different Arcanist Exploits. This is specifically a question about Bloodline Development.

Can I select the Sylvan Bloodline to acquire an Animal Companion? (The Exploit does grant the Bloodline Arcana and 1st level Power, which is what that Bloodline power "replaces" for the Fay Bloodline.)

If yes, how does spending a point from my Arcane Reservoir work? (Or would it not work for this Bloodline?)

Sovereign Court

I don't think so, because Sylvan is a wildblooded version of a bloodline, which is considered an archetype - but others should confirm.

I've always considered the wildblooded bloodlines to just be more bloodlines as the archetype doesn't replace anything other than tweaking the bloodline itself as you would expect from anything that is a bloodline "but different." But, RAW, it is an archetype and those bloodlines are listed under that archetype. So, strictly speaking, no, you probably can't select them.

Indeed, wildblooded bloodlines should have (in my opinion) been handled exactly the same as subdomains, but instead they're options available to an archetype. So you're stuck with "normal" bloodlines as an arcanist.
