Hyperlink Blue

Website Feedback

Recommendation if possible: Make the [url] color hyperlink blue.

Often we include a witty link into some ooc banter and people miss that it is a link and jokes sputter and die. It is sad.

Can you make them blue like the other hyperlinks in the interweb?

Why didn't you or why don't you want to?
Thanks.

I've noticed this too, the problem is usually due to the dark purple being too close to the black text when it's mixed in. I've bolded links to get around this.

Are you sure you're not using a custom style sheet? They look blue to me. Unless you're talking about if a link is nested inside an OOC tag, yeah, that probably won't look right. Improving our BBCode support is on the todo list but pretty far down right now.

Definitely purple, I've used 2 computers for paizo.com. The sidebar, breadcrumb, inbox, usernames and message links are all purple. Not talking about OOC (which is a lighter purple).

The exception is maroon aliases and green character names, but that's not what we're talking about.

Any chance the URL code could instead be Green or Red? Something a little more obvious and not used. I have that issue a lot. Especially when I am running games and include a link to the PRD or something within the Out-of-Character dialogue with players. If I forget to add in "->->Click Me<-<-" or "LINK HERE" or something like that, it's very easy to miss.

Beckett - can you see links as blue like Gary is suggesting?

The reason I ask is that if not, blue might fix the problem, and if so, it might be a matter of players being lazy to read-and-click.

The issue we're talking about is purple is easy to miss, but blue is the standard. I don't think green or red would fix the problem if you're experiencing the latter issue.

Sometimes. (they look blue to me already, or purple whichever side of "that debate" you fall on). On a quick scan through, particularly when a link is also in an Out-of-Character segment of text, it really depends on how bright is outside, what computer/phone/tablet I'm using, and the like. On Phones and Tablets in particular, they may not the same variety of color, and no mouse to hover over the Link to make it jump out and display the underline.

The two are just too close, and if a part of the OOC text is also Bolded, it's much worse. (in retrospect, it would probably be better to keep the Link blue, and shift the OOC to a green. Distinct enough from black or blue, but obviously different enough to use when needed. It can also easily be missed if there are multiple OOC portions, and then a Link somewhere. For example:

Ok, sounds good.

<edit>, actually it looks like you might need to 5ft step to the left as that's just outside your spells range.

Recheck the spell, and let me know what you decide. I'm going to go ahead and move along, and retcon it in when you post.

A link within normal text (usually) is not an issue. It's when they are included in OOC, which can be pretty common for those that game here on the site.

They look blue to me.

In Chrome, a:link has the style 'color: #4D3A98'. It's getting that from paizo.com/include/stylesheet-2004.css

Regardless of whether or not that looks like blue, it is not the web-standard blue link (#0000FF). That said, most websites change the styles on their links to something a little less jarring, but often more blue than Paizo's. (For example, Wikipedia uses #0645AD)

In regards to the OP, I've not had a problem (that I know of) with missing links, but I tend to have pretty good attention to detail. I think it is a valid point.

The inheritance seems to work fine in Chrome, anyways. It overrides the OOC style with the link.

What spell was I referring to?

Fireball. The link text is a bit darker than the OOC text (which I didn't know was a thing since I don't play here). I see what you mean, though.

I would also prefer a less subtle link color.

I think there's a bit of a browser issue as well Beckett - I had to run my mouse over the line to find your link. *Then* I could tell it was slightly darker.
