Harrower Harrower Casting and metamagic staff using

Rules Questions

A wizard need one free hand to cast speels. My player use a metamagic rod. Can he use harrow casting at the same time. I think no. One hand the rod the other hand must be free for casting a spell. For harrow casting he must take 3 cards out of the deck but he have only two hands. Is this right. Sorry for my english, i am german.

It just says it adds a somatic component if the spell does not already have one. There is no indication that it needs a separate hand free, so essentially your player can do the casting gestures with the cards in his hand.

So yes, he can use harrow casting while holding something in the other hand.

Ok, but do you think thats not a problem. 1 Hand the Rod, the components and the 54 cards and then draw 3 cards with this hand. Respect. 1 Hand must be free.

Nothing in the rules ever says you have to do this at the same time. There are other classes such as those with arcane bond weapon features which explicitely state that they have to be held/wielded/worn etc.

So according to the magic system in PF you could have
first components
then other stuff
then somatic gestures
etc.

But again, it states it adds a somatic component if the spell does not already have one. So nothing is changed for those with components.

And no, I do not think this is a problem. Harrow casting is not particularly strong anyway.
