Giant Flytrap Engulf damage question

Rules Questions

Per the Engulf ability...

If it succeeds, it engulfs the prey and inflicts 1d8+9 points of damage and 2d6 acid damage as the cavity floods with digestive enzymes.

Is this per round that it has its target engulfed? Or just the first round, when it succeeds in the "Pin"?

Every round on the Flytrap's initiative it does that damage. Until the prey can get out.

holy moley...that's pretty brutal. I mean, the thing has a way high CMD, so escaping this "Pin" isn't an easy thing to do and all the while you're taking 1d8+2d6+9 damage, an average of over 20? Can you fight while Engulfed, like cutting your way out of being Swallowed Whole? I don't think so, since it doesn't like stats to cut your way out and you typically can't attack while pinned...
ouch...

They don't need to escape the pin. Once inside the fly trap the rules for being swallowed take precidence. They can cut their way out if they have a light weapon.

Woops just read it... wow that's nasty.

So I'm correct, you can't just "cut your way out"? I don't see the standard AC/HP for cutting your way out.
