hi,
i am really new to these style of games, and i have an question about attack bonus, does attack bonus increase the chance to hit something or does it increase the damage? and if i do melee damage and have a strengt modifier of +2 do i do 2 more damage or do i get an 2 more on my chance to hit the target?

Attack bonus and damage bonus are separate things.
Your attack bonus adds to your attack roll (but not your damage roll).
Your damage bonus adds to your damage roll (but not your attack roll).
Your Strength adds to your attack bonus and it also adds to your damage bonus, so there's an overlapping advantage to having a high Strength (for melee attacks, at least).

Ranged attacks are funny. With bows and the like in the beginner box, Dex does provide a to hit bonus to them, but you get no damage bonus. Thrown weapons or slings benefit from Dex for the to hit, and get the strength for the damage.

and wat about spells, do those get damage bonus from int? or hit bonus? it some times says ranged touch roll for spells, does this mean that i need to add a Dex mod or an Int mod? Or do spels not have any benefit rolls?
thanks for all the information so far, It has been really helpful! :)
