Hello all,
I've searched and found several threads regarding Aqueous Orb but no concrete ruling for the following two questions. If I missed the relevant thread please direct me there.
First, can you hit the same target with this spell over and over again during the 30 foot move/round allowed for this spell? Reading through the text there doesn't seem to be anything disallowing this. I'm also not sure if that is broken or not as to do so you would be giving up attempting to engulf other creatures with the movement. Thoughts?
Secondly what happens if the orb is directed off a cliff or into a Pit via create pit? Do the unfortunate souls inside take full falling damage? Perhaps would the fall be considered onto a yielding surface? Or no falling damage due to protection from the Orb? Also the text for the spell states "An aqueous orb stops if it moves outside the spell's range". Does that mean if you hurl it off a giant chasm and the spell range doesn't reach the bottom the sphere stops in mid air? Or does the spell end?

flaming sphere has text that it stops when it enters someone's squares.
its cheesy as hell, but i haven't spotted the same text.
so i *hate* it when players pull a dazing rod and cast aqueous orb.
you made your first insanely high save b/c i'm tweaked caster?
fine. i back up five feet and rear-end you again with my aqueous orb volkswagon. make another save. wash rinse repeat for 30 ft. of movement.
so i'd love it if anyone does have an answer that supports "No, you can't", legitimately by RAW. =D
for the second part...
wow that's just nasty.
per most spells ending at range, the aqueous orb would probably burst and end. leaving the hapless riders alone with a cascade of water on their fall to their death (barring a surreptitiously timed featherfall ).
i've seen it combo-ed with spike stones, to drag people across spiky ground over and over again to force them to take damage. so it'd likely throw them over the cliff, still in the orb.
if you're nice, maybe one last save to escape the orb and catch the edge of the cliff or something. b/c lets face it, for its caster level, its an extremely powerful spell when combined with the environment.
