Death or Stand by at a closed location

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Ok I've read somewhere that it is ok to hang out at a closed location rather than dying. My question, because it relates to difficulty of the game is it a house rule that we can do this or is it a game rule(part of the game) that we can hold out until the other characters finish the game or the Blessing deck times out ?

It is not a house rule. It is part of the game.

Your Turn

Take your turn by going through the following steps in order. The only required steps are Advance the Blessings Deck, Reset Your Hand, and End Your Turn; the other steps are optional.

So long as you advance the blessing deck, reset your hand and end your turn you are playing your turn. Someone could still encounter a barrier that would make you encounter a monster. Hanging at a closed location would lessen the likelihood of this. But you don't have to seek to encounter anything on your turn.

FYI - My house rule for death is that death equals scenario loss plus loss of all cards acquired during that scenario. So letting the blessing deck timer run out of turns is still better than dying, but dying doesn't cost you your character.
