Group of Three

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

I'm playing solo and play my three characters Valeros, Merisiel and Sajan. Just completed Perils of the lost coast. Black Fang was defeated. My first try with Black Fang was missed due to time(blessing). The second try was epic. Black Fang cornered and one last Blessing card to play by Sajan. A blessing from Merisiel, and two by Sajan allowed for a sure win. Indeed it was.
However, going into Burnt offerings and future expansions, I'm wondering if I should level up a character that uses spells to eventually join up with my group of three ? It seems all the checks and some of the spells could become beneficial for the group as a whole. The only reason I stuck to three from the start was because I was playing all the characters and thinking four might be too much. But after playing a while now, it doesn't seem so bad. Except for the extra locations I would have to add. So basically I'm wondering if anyone has played through without using a spell caster.

I know people have soloed with a single character, so I assume its been done without a spell caster by some. I've played with Sajan and and my wife as Merisiel through adventure deck 1. But I hated that every time we encountered a spell card we felt like someone opening a Christmas present and finding a pair of socks. So we are working on adding a spell caster. Maybe each playing two characters.

I solo play 6 characters at once. It takes a while to set up, but I wanted to experience all the locations in each scenario. I'm loving it.

Sovereign Court

I've played from the beginning through the end of the Skinsaw Murders with just Valeros and Amiri, and it's actually worked well. The one thing you want to make sure of is that you pick up magic weapons ASAP, since some monsters (including a henchman in a Burnt Offerings Scenario I believe) can't be defeated without the magic trait.

And yes, Sajan and his blessings make for epic endings. My favorite was killing Pillbug Podiker by having a full hand of just Blessing of the Gods and Blessing of Erastils, and recharging all of them. That's a lot of d10's (plus a d4 from Valeros and Harsk...)
