Black Magga Ending Deck and Skinsaw Basic Discarding Rule Q

Hi All,

We just successfully finished Here Comes the Flood scenario and had a question about how to handle any basic cards in its "deck."

Skinsaw Murders is the first time we discard Banes and optionally discard Boons.

Do the Black Maga ending cards get put back into the box or do they potentially get banished?

We're assuming they don't go through that banish routine but wanted to double check.

To clarify, the Adventure Path rule applies after you start Hook Mountain Massacre. Since you said you defeated Black Magga, I'm assuming your fingers slipped when you typed Skinsaw Murders.

They get put back in the box. They are NOT banished.

Rulebook page 19 wrote:

Once you’ve completed a scenario, whether you win or lose, rebuild your character deck (see Between Games, below). Put all other cards back into the box.

So the rulebook tells you to put them back in the box. No where are you instructed to banish them.

Said another way: "All banished cards are put back in the box, but not all cards put back in the box are banished."

And just to add to this, you do banish boons that you fail to acquire and banes that you defeat:

Rulebook Page 12 wrote:

Resolve the Encounter: If you succeed at all of the checks required to defeat a bane, banish it; if you don’t succeed, it is undefeated— shuffle the card back into its location deck. If you succeed at a check to acquire a boon, put it in your hand; otherwise, banish it.

You also banish a card as per the instructions when playing some cards (like a spell or some allies) and you can banish a card as instructed by a location's rule.
