So here's the list of effects from a greater version of the rod of wonder that I'm trying to price:

06-10: Target is cursed (as bestow curse, Will DC 16 negates)
11-15: Target is teleported to a random location (as dimension door, Will DC 16 negates)
16-20: The rod emits a ray that acts as a disintegrate spell. 22d6 damage, Fortitude DC 19 partial
21-25: Greater dispel magic on target or area
26-30: Caustic eruption centered on the wielder, 13d6 points of initial acid damage and 6d6 points in following rounds. Reflex DC 20 partial
31-33: Wielder (50% chance) or target (50% chance) is affected by iron body for 2 minutes
34-36: Target or area is affected by deeper darkness and silence for 10 minutes (Will DC 13 negates if targeting creature or magic item).
37-46: Chain lightning on target and nearest 11 secondary targets. 11d6 damage, DC 19 half
47-49: A 10-foot-wide, 50-foot-deep extradimensional pit opens up at the indicated spot, as the spell hungry pit. Reflex DC 17 negates.
50-53: Create a random illusory creature, as if by a deck of illusions (Will DC 16 to disbelieve)
54-58: A thunderclap produces a greater shout effect emanating from the wielder (Fortitude DC 22 partial).
59-62: The wielder gains the effects of a fly spell for 5 minutes
63-65: Baleful polymorph on the target (Fortitude DC 17 negates)
66-69: You create a vortex or whirlwind as appropriate. Whirlwinds created by the rod are uncontrolled and last only 1d3+1 rounds
70-79: A fire snake emerges and takes a random path to its target. 9d6 damage, DC 17
80-84: The wielder becomes incorporeal for 1 minute or until they make an attack
85-87: The rod emits a 15-foot-wide, 100-ft-long beam of light, as the sunbeam spell.
88-90: The wielder (50% chance) or the target (50% chance) assumes a random form as per greater polymorph (Fortitude DC 20 negates)
91-95: Ttransmute metal to wood, stone to flesh, flesh to stone, transmute rock to mud, or transmute mud to rock, as appropriate (saving throw DC 20 for all effects)
96-97: Wielder gains control of the target for up to 10 minutes, as per dominate monster, control undead, control plants, or control construct, as appropriate (Will DC 20 negates if applicable).
98-100: All creatures within 30 feet gain fast healing 5 and haste for 1d4+1 rounds.

Hmm.. give me a few minutes...
56000gp, based on halving the value for uncertain effect. This is essentially the same pricing as the original Rod (2000 x CL x SL x %chance x a few mitigating factors x 1/2).
But I'd say you need to add a few more oddball/not-so-great-for-anybody effects (like the butterflies of the original).
