Master Spy type character

Advice

Hi folks,

I'm toying with building a master spy character, focused on infiltration, deceit and trickery. So, a little bit inspired by Lord Varys from Game of Thrones, specifically his ability to perfectly hide behind a disguise.

So, I was looking to go for "Master Spy" as prestige class and use Bard (Sandman) and Rogue (Investigator or Spy) as core classes to get there.

At this (granted very basic) stage, any inputs to the general idea?

Charlatan might be a good rogue choice since they get that lie talent early on

Liberty's Edge

Kitsune with the Realistic Likeness feat. And the Swift Kitsune Shapechanger feat makes it even better. Kitsune Trickster (Rogue archetype) can be nice too.

Halfling Opportunist PrC to use Disguise in place of Diplomacy.

The rakshasa bloodline is surprisingly good at this. Here is a rak bloodline spy character I whipped up a while back. She's really designed as an NPC, so her combat skills are weak. Her sky-high Bluff allows her to warp reality almost at will, though, and if you scroll down the thread there's some discussion of how to synergize that with some rogue levels.

Nice input, thanks guys. I'll keep away from out-of-sorts demihumans, so no kitsune, sorry. The Rakshasa bloodline sounds interesting, I'll give that a look. (Now to hope the group I am hoping to get to play this in actually happens, and soon!)

Liberty's Edge

Since the kitsune will essentially spend his time in human guises, I see it as one of the easiest demi-humans to integrate without seeming too outlandish ;-)
