Pathfinder Society: Legal Race Options

Sovereign Court

Hey there,

So I'm looking at getting back into Society after a long absence and have a group who also want to join. But when looking over the listed race options we saw; "To create an dhampir, fetchling, grippli, goblin, ifrit, kitsune, nagaji, oread, suli, sylph, undine, vishkanya or wayang character, you must have a Chronicle sheet that opens the race as a legal option at character creation."

So I assume this means we need to complete a certain module to open access to each race; where can we find out what modules open which races?

They are not modules, but special certs given out at conventions (often to GMs). So if you're looking to play an unusual race, contact your local venture officer and see if he needs GMs for any upcoming cons.

Those races actually come from special boon sheets that you earn outside of game. Often they are awarded as special boons at cons or sometimes given out by gm's who have extra and want to reward players. You can also check out the boon trading pages here and see if anyone is wanting to get rid of any of their old boons.

Ah, sadly not anywhere near a con. Thanks anyway.

Also, this type of question really should be posted in the actual PFS forums ...

You don't need a con! Get with your VOs to put together any kind of "game day" at a local store; get a dozen or so tables, and voila! instant boons!

If you want to play an Undine then you are in luck since that is what you will get for DMing at a con at the moment. Even online, which is a great new opportunity.

If you want to play an Oread or Sylph sit tight because they will be the upcoming DM race boons for the next few months.

I don't think any other races are really attainable at the moment unfortunately.

There are online cons (e.g. Virtuacon) which have received support from the online VOs. I got an ifrit boon for GMing from the comfort of my own home.

To qualify as a con as far as PFS is concerned you need to be able to field 15 sessions over the course of three days, which depending on your locale and interested players can be pretty difficult to pull off. I recently looked into what we here in Maine would need to do to qualify and was sadly disappointed to find out that we would be unable to pull off that many sessions in a short period of time.

You don't have ten players in Maine? Fifteen sessions in three days can be comfortably pulled off with ten people.

Players in Maine can probably get to Totalcon in February without too long of a commute. It's typically the biggest PFS con of the year in New England.
