My group of players in a game I am about to start are very familiar with the game but have almost no familiarity with the setting. This is actually a good thing overall for the campaign, I feel. However, I do think they would benefit from knowing and understanding the humble starting point, Sandpoint.
The only idea I have is to give my players an edited copy of one of the write ups about the town, and to "assign" reading it as "homework." Any other ideas will be appreciated.

When I started The Brinewall Legacy, I had each character start inside town. The major NPC that each character was associated with gave each character a minor chore to do. While each character was walking around town, he/she met three separate minor town characters. The minor characters all stopped the PC to chat and share a rumor from the rumors table in the adventure or one I just made up.
It worked really well. Now, we actually started the Adventure Path with We Be Goblins, so several of the rumors were wild overblown exaggerations of the local goblin tribe. That amused my players a lot and gave them a sense of belonging to the community because they intuitively knew how to react to those rumors.

If you're willing and able to tinker with timelines a bit, another possibility is to use some of the earlier material from AP #1 (Burnt Offerings). There are several small around-the-town missions, some involving NPCs used in Jade Regent. Maybe run it up through the Glassworks fights, but not include the Thassalonian elements.
