Brawler Rage Power Question

Rules Questions

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Brawler makes a barbarian considered to have unarmed strike while raging.

Does this qualify the barbarian to take Style Feats? They would only be operable while he is raging, I know. However, I just want to know if the barbarian could nonetheless take the style feats or any other feats with unarmed strike as a prerequisite for the matter.

No. Improved unarmed strike is a requirement to take the style feats. Take a level of martial artist monk if you want to take style feats.

I think you may have misunderstood me because I was unclear, but maybe not.

Brawler gives a barbarian Improved Unarmed Strike will raging.

The power says "treated as", it doesn't actually give you the feat.

It's certainly not an overpowered option to allow it, but it doesn't work for strict RAW applications such as PFS

Some feats have prerequisites. Your character must have the indicated ability score, class feature, feat, skill, base attack bonus, or other quality designated in order to select or use that feat. A character can gain a feat at the same level at which he gains the prerequisite.

A character can't use a feat if he loses a prerequisite, but he does not lose the feat itself. If, at a later time, he regains the lost prerequisite, he immediately regains full use of the feat that prerequisite enables.

I guess the question then is what you are "treated as" having the feat for.

Are you just "treated as" having the feat for making unarmed attacks or are you also "treated as" having the feat to meet the prerequisite for other feats.

That said, I do appreciate the responses because it at least lets me know why some beleive that it is not RAW.

I'd probably allow it. But yeah, you'd only get benefits of feats for which IUS is a prerequisite while you're raging.
