Yup. Racial SLAs can help qualify now, it's great. Aasimar daylight gets you into eldritch knight at 3rd level!

Easiest answer they should have told you is: read the FAQ. It's easier for you to read it strait from the source.

well... its best to point him to the FAQ, its easiest to say "mostly yes- basically SLAs count as arcane unless the spell they mimic can only be cast by divine casters (like the idyllkin aasimar's summon nature's ally 2 SLA) or the SLA is granted by a divine casting class (like the trickery domain's mirror image SLA).

you should actually read up from the source, but hopefully this will get you started.
