Hi there.
I'm Japanese pathfinder GM & player.
My English is intermediate, I think.
(1) we started our campaign (now 10 sessions have been finished) with 5 people
(1) lv7 fighter
(2) lv7 rogue
(3) lv7 cleric
(4) lv7 wizard
(5) lv7 paradin
One day, cleric's player didn't attend our campaign. After play, I received his e-mail saying that he has to enter hospital, which means he no longer can participate in our game.
In this case, what should I do? (for example, should I search another people who wants to play this game?)
(2) my wizard (see above) asked me whether he can buy "half charge" magic missile wands (means that it has 25 charges). he insists that
(a) these "half charge" wands should be found in large market.
(b) It is difficult for us to use 50 charge in entire session.
and so on.
I searched this problem with google and yahoo. Based on these, some says that "half charge" is OK and the other says it is NO.
What should I do in this case?
If I admit that "half charge" is OK, what price is appropriate?
Thank you for reading!

The pricing is simply the corresponding amount to the charges. Half the charges -> half the price. There is no particular problem with it, indeed, most of the wands available for purchase should probably have a few charges spent. Just... if you can't find fully charged wands, you probably can't find partly-charged ones either.

Welcome. Your English is better than my Japanese as well as better than the English of many Americans.

Not having a cleric is a weakness, but not an insurmountable one. That is, the party can overcome this weakness. The lv7 Paladin can do many of the same things a cleric can do if he tries (just not as well). This includes using wands of cure wounds.

As the GM, that is entirely up to you. All newly manufactured wands must be made with the full 50 charges, but used wands could have almost any number of charges remaining. The issue would be one of availability. Just like a used car lot, there might not be the exact model you want with exactly the age/mileage you're looking for.
It is difficult for us to use 50 charge in entire session.
Why would your player feel the need to use up the entire wand in one session ? Most players I know use wands sparingly to make them last as many sessions as possible.
If I admit that "half charge" is OK, what price is appropriate?
Half-price for half-charge seems fair. Again, as the GM, it is up to you.

Hi Yuki!

I would say yes, find another player to fill the spot, or have a GM-NPC come in to cover healing, the Adept class works incredibly well to fill the healing role.
Having 6 players and a GM is not unmanageable, but avoid going above it.(2) my wizard (see above) asked me whether he can buy "half charge" magic missile wands (means that it has 25 charges).
he insists that(a) these "half charge" wands should be found in large market.
(b) It is difficult for us to use 50 charge in entire session.
Technically the answer is no, you cannot buy wands at half charge because the rules are that you are paying someone to make the wand for you. When your players enter the market and are looking to buy a wand they shouldn't be able to find precisely what they are looking for, but instead a close approximation, such as a wand with 30 or 20 charges, you can roll randomly if you want with 5d10, which should give you a rough average. Charge them for the charges left in the wand ([Cost of a full wand at that level / 50] * number of charges in wand) and you are good to go.
To find items in a market you would roll a percentile (d100 for example, or 2d10) to decide. Wands are fairly common, however finding a wand that casts the exact spell he wants that has exactly the number of charges he wants is going to be tricky. There is a chance that he will.
I would suggest that the chances of finding wands that cast the spell he wants is pretty high(75 - 100%), but the specific number of charges for said spell will be lower (5 - 20%).
I would suggest that instead of going for his specific number he finds the said wand, it has 5d10 charges, and the cost is per charge. He can accept that and buy it or refuse to try again the next day.
If they are staying there for a long period of time then it is possible that over the course of a month or a year that he would find exactly what he wants.
One point I make is that the majority of the time when Wands are bought the spell is something that is going to be used a lot, such as Cure Light Wounds, and for this reason most wands do not have a lot of charges on them because they either run out of charges or the wielder dies in the field.
For the price of charges
If the spell can be found on the Cleric, Druid, or Wizard spell lists then the prices are as follows per charge:
Spell level 0: 7gp, 5sp.
Spell level 1: 1pp, 5gp.
Spell level 2: 9pp.
Spell level 3: 22pp, 5gp.
Spell level 4: 42pp.
I would highly suggest the Paladin/Paradin buy at least a wand of cure light wounds since this will ensure the party has enough healing to heal between fights.
Alternatively the Wizard could buy a wand of Infernal Healing, which is more effective than Cure Light Wounds at caster level 1 (1d8+1 VS 10) for healing between fights.
Best of luck!

Hello Yukie_sc-san!
Some questions for you:
-do you play a pathfinder homegame or Pathfinder Society?
-do you have the Pathfinder books in english only or is there a japanese translation somewhere?
To 1.:
That totally depends on you and your group! Have a talk with your people and if they want a new member, go search one together!
You still have the Paladin who can heal some though. And healing is not a necessity, just very convenient.
To 2.:
That depends on if you play Pathfinder Society or a home game.
In the home game you as the GM get to decide that. I would keep that in check, since partly charged and therefore cheaper wands can change the game balance and make the wizard very powerful. Even in the largest markets you do not find all sorts of magic at all.
If you play a Pathfinder Society game, the answer is no. Either you find a partly charged wand on a chronicle and buy it from there after the session, or you are our of luck.
I hope that helps!
Perhaps one day when i succeeded improving my japanese we can have a game together^^
