The image of a major league lich mounted, wearing heavy armor,and fighting in melee as one of the true horrors of the world is rather appealing to me...he was a Duskblade in 3.5...
What path? I see 3 excellent possibilities... Archmage, of course...Champion, naturally... and Marshal... leading a force of undead knights...

More I've worked out...asimar... great? grandson of a balisse angel and human father...townsfolk tortured the angel horribly when they discovered she'd fulfilled part of an ancient prophecy by having a child with a mortal...slew the father and broke the angel's spirit, creating a broken soul (which fulfilled the prophecy and assured that not one, but two evils would plague their land)...she became an oracle broken soul, dark tapestry...used by a demon lord to cause havok... he fought her until he felt the weight of his heritage and slid into evil...
