If I take a level in Bard and a level in Sorcerer and I cast a spell that appears in both spell lists, can I choose which spell slot is expended?
For example a 1st level sorcerer can cast 3 spells per day, and a bard can cast 1. If I learn the spell grease as a sorcerer, but have already used my 3 spells per day casting mm or mage armor, can I still cast grease? (For those who want to nit pick, you can assume I took a feat to get an extra spell known)
For those who are interested: Halfling Sorcerer (Fey) 1, and Bard rest. I would learn the feat antagonize, and focus on running around disrupting enemy lines. The level in sorcerer would give me laughing touch and plus 2 to compulsion spells (which I will cast often). I would pick up two dnd spells: stay the hand and mindless rage. It would be interesting telling the monsters who they can and cannot attack. The benefit of the bard levels would be access to lower level spells (stay the hand, and hideous laughter are now level 1 spells), greater hp, greater BaB, skills, and of course bardic performance. This would make an effective support character.
A side question: The fey bloodline ability would affect bardic spells right?
