Consecrated ranged weapons

Can the consecrated weapon property be applied to a ranged weapon? How would this work? Would it put it on ammo until a shot hit or does it need to be the weapon itself (ie, javalin). If it imparts to ammo, what happens with a scatter weapon?

There's nothing in the text of consecrated to disallow it, in fact it says weapons of any type. But you charge it as a foci, then release it as Channel Smite. Here's the only difficulty I see. Channel Smite only lets you charge it before a melee attack. But you've already charged it hours before.

So. How does it go?

Hm... It depends.
Projectile weapons usually do impart it to their ammunition, no big problem there.

The question becomes WHERE does the boosting happen? Do consecrated munitions impacting over sacred ground get the bonus, or do they gain it from firing on said ground?

If there's existing answers to the following questions we'll get our answers: Does someone standing ON sacred ground striking a target just outside it still get the bonuses when using a melee weapon, and does someone standing just outside hitting a creature on sacred ground with a consecrated weapon gain the bonuses?

If you AND the target both need to be in, then it'll be the same: you have to be ON sacred ground firing at something on sacred ground to get the bonus damage.

Consecrated states "wielded", so as far as I can tell, though, it should be firing while on sacred ground that gives you the bonus. Time to sacred up those turrets.

Is this a third-party ability? You'll have to ask the publisher. Normally, one checks whether the ability is listed for a particular weapon type (melee, ranged, ammunition, etc.) or whether the description itself specifies valid weapon types. You generally have to check both, since, for example, not all melee-only weapon properties specify that they are melee-only in the descriptions, instead trusting the reader to check the appropriate tables.

The weapon party in question seems to be this one from 101 Magical Weapon Properties. Copyright 2010 Steven D. Russell.

No, I'm referring to consecrated weapon from adventurers armory. Under the channel foci. Page 24.

Ok, when you called it the consecrated weapon PROPERTY, that's when the confusion started. I can't find an online link to display things from Adventurers Armory, but I own the PDF, so that's no big deal.

That being the case, since Consecrated Weapon states "This functions like the Channel Smite feat, except the additional damage is equal to half the cleric's channel energy damage" and the Channel Smite feat states "You can channel your divine energy through a melee weapon you wield." it seems that you can't use it with a bow, or at least that part doesn't function for a bow.

You might be able to use it with a throw weapon that is also a melee weapon.
