Hello,
We have an experienced gaming group that really enjoyed skull and shackles, but due to complex circumstances were unable to continue playing. We're hoping to find something with a similar sort of charm and appeal
1. Pirates
2. Social Importance & Significance
3. Choice or the Illusion thereof
4. Combat of an abnormal/novel sort
5. Unique interpretation of alignments (Neutral being practical)
6. Interesting and Varied NPCs with a lot of interactivity
Above are some of the things that we really enjoyed from Skull & Shackles. All of these would not necessarily need to be incorporated, however, the last three points are the most important when we asked the group.
Thank you,
Resentment

If you can get Savage Tide that's ideal.
For me I think you should check out Way of the Wicked. It's an evil AP with a lot of fun encounters and RP opportunities. Plus it's good to be bad.
Kingmaker has the illusion of freedom but it's RP elements are limited.
Other than that most AP's follow a fairly linear pattern. You have to look to the story at that point. Personally I rate Curse of the Crimson Throne highly in this regard.

Our long time group has run into this a few times. Our most cherished changes were drastic alignment changes (mummy killed us at third level, then raised us back as evil skeletal champions.) And a pacifist group who avoided conflict at all cost. Mixed with a eastern religious twist and getting rid of alignment and Gods all together. (Think avatar)
Best way to approach monotony is to completely change a standing mechanic and turn it upside down from my experience.
