The various sources mention a scarcity of major waterways in Taldor, apart from the Jalrune and Porthmos Rivers and its canal network. Should we assume there are a number of lesser rivers and branching streams across the plains, fed from the foothills and perhaps the woodlands that feed these canals? Or no?
They may not provide a means of commerce but surely the region is crisscrossed with small rivers and such, or are we to assume that Taldin engineers replaced these with their network of canals?
If so, I suppose a failure of these would indeed create the mires and bogs suggested as the natural system of drainage is no longer sufficient.
What do you think? Are there additional natural rivers across the Taldin plains or are the Jalrune and Porthmos alone?

I use it in my Taldor to emphasize the class divide. Canals and viaducts into the cities are in decent shape, as they keep the bearded functional. Likewise, a noble's estate will have canals (if not decanters of endless water) fueling fountains and the like.
The plains though, the only remainin canals are ones that are easily maintained, are essential to food production, or the few nobles who actually care about their serfs. The later are vanishingly rare.
