Any hope they'll waive the alignment restriction on assassins? You can join an assassins guild so why can't you play an assassin?

They won't. It stops shenanigans from becoming too commonplace. And we don't join the assassin's guild per se we just happen to have contacts in there.

Because those assassins are evil. We just kill people for money, but we aren't evil. We also extort and steal, but at least we aren't assassins! I mean, in name. We still kill people for money.

Not a huge loss. The assassin PrC isn't that great and actually got nerfed in the transition from 3.5 to PF.

I know the PrC is weak but it's the principle of the thing lol. One of my gripes against the alignment restriction is the PrC doesn't have anything inherently evil. The assassin is just a class that excels (conceptually not mechanically) at killing things stealthily. It's the motivations behind the killings that make it an evil act or not.

But you're right the field guide does state you aren't necessarily an active assassin just a member of the guild.

PFS doesn't usually have alignment related house rules, so it might be a bit weird. I know the alignment thing strikes a lot of people as off because nothing about being an assassin class is really that evil and you tend to leave a mountain of corpses in PFS and pathfinder in general.(not a big fan of alignment restrictions myself)

You can still be an assassin, just in name only.

MrSin kinda hit on it, even if being a bit snarky about it.

The best solution would be play an assassin-like character (rogue or ninja?) and just call yourself that if you want.

Heck, at level 10 ninjas can pick a ninja trick that let's them assassinate much like the PrC can.

There was one assassin boon auctioned off for charity at GenCon that went for a pretty insane amount of money. That boon DID lift the alignment restriction. I really wouldn't count on seeing it for regular players any time soon, based on that.

As a note on this, I believe the boon was never paid for, so it never saw circulation.

All boons have finally been paid for and the money sent to the gen con charity.

I'm really glad that issue got worked out.

I like how the iconic alchemist is a super crazy murdering evil guy so there is no pregen for him, haha
